The increasing global population is inevitable and this will bring several challenges including the need for more food. On the other hand, good ecosystem services are vital for human beings. In the future, the provision of high-quality and sufficient amount of food has to be accompanied by a healthy ecosystem. Hence, the contribution of applied sciences and technology is expected to elucidate that situation.
